Even though I studied in one of the best schools, the best college and the one of the top 10 engineering college in Karnataka... I know nothing, no grip on any subject.. but I recently found out that its not only me, its with everyone.. everyone who have gone through the type of education which I have been through... and in India 98% of the schools work that way...
Last Sunday, we friends were discussing on different issues and one of my friend raised a problem from math…
Its something like this…
d/dx (x2)
which ends up with 2x=x, actually there is a reason why this happens and why we shouldn’t do this.. but none of knew it…
guys who were discussing are working in the top most companies.. intel, cisco, igate… none of them answered… all the 3 being above 80% guys… then we started discussing about what we have studied.. and what we really remember…
what ever we studied was for marks.. people like me worked for just first class marks.. some for passing and some for above 80%.. what ever it is every one of has worked for that percentage…
reason, either our parents, teachers or friends.. everyone were really concerned about your marks rather than how much you really know that subject.. because everyone had a wrong thought that the more marks you get the more you know about the subject… but that’s not true…
I am not sure about how the education is in other countries but in India its really all about marks…
This has to change; our teachers should teach us, how to think on solving a problem rather than teaching us steps to solve the problem.
But what happened to me, do someone have to really tell me, guide me.. what was I doing.. why was I running behind marks… oh my, what am I today… I really cannot say that, I know this subject.. i am not perefect...
But what ever I have learned till today is of some use… it is obviously not waste… but the way I was educated really sucks….
Btw, there are some good schools.. my sisters daughter goes to a school which is a four year course… for children btw age 3-7 where they teach how cut vegetables (the art of handling knife), stitch (the art handling needle) , she knows Ramayana and Mahabharata with all the names of the characters in it (tell me all the names of 3 wife’s of Dasharatha, that kid knows the names), how to balance yourself.. and what not.. that’s a excellent school… lots of fun…
